Adams’ rivals criticize the move by the Justice Department to drop corruption charges against the mayor
On Monday night, the Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove asked the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York to dismiss corruption charges against Mayor Eric Adams, saying this case interfered with Adams’ reelection efforts and his “ability to devote
full attention and resources to the illegal immigration and violent crime that escalated under the
policies of the prior Administration.” The matter would be reviewed after the November election.
News broke as a group of New York City Democrats running for mayor was getting ready to debate cultural policy at BRIC House in Brooklyn. Adams’ rivals were quick to respond.
