City Newsroom illuminates the rich and varied intersections that make up the fabric of life in New York City. This site is staffed by students at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. They are managed by Professors Juan Manuel Benítez, Alyza Enrqiuez, & Ty Lawson.

MADISON EDWARD-WRIGHT
Madison Edward-Wright is an investigative journalist from Montreal. For City Newsroom, she covers local politics and takes particular interest in voting rights and government corruption.

Lauren hails from Long Island, NY and got her first taste of journalism as a food writer at Washington University in St. Louis. She previously worked as a teacher and now covers education for City Newsroom.

Jennifer Gan is from Nanjing, China, and covers Arts and Culture for City Newsroom. She has experience in broadcast reporting and obtained a dual degree in Journalism and Psychology from Boston University.

Shailee Shah has always been an immigrant — and as a result, in constant pursuit of the feeling of home. It’s only befitting then, that she relishes in covering the housing beat for City Newsroom. When she’s not chasing a story, you can find her writing strongly-worded letters to her local representatives while drinking strongly-iced oat matchas.

Eric Santomauro-Stenzel is a reporter from Long Island, NY and covers politics for City Newsroom. His prior coverage has included social movements, discrimination, education, and more. He is a recent graduate of Hamilton College outside of Utica, NY.

She previously worked at UBS in Wealth Management and as a reporter for Hong Kong’s largest broadcast TV channel.
